Post #3 - MORE Surprises! The Lord knows BEST!

Four weeks ago today the exciting news of our mission call arrived in our mailbox.  We were VERY happy about the call, but we were a bit discouraged with a starting date of Dec. 1, 2014.  Why another delay?

But remember, the Lord knows BEST!
More details to follow but first the events.

Along with various forms and papers was a missionary information booklet that outlined lots of needful details and general preparatory assignments.

Two weeks later more travel details arrived which sparked concern.  Our MTC (Mission Training Center) dates were listed from Dec. 1 to Dec. 10, 2014.  We had thought our stay was only for 5 days, now longer?  Further checking revealed that the first five days will be general preparation and then three days (Mon.-Wed. Dec. 8-10) will be special training with CES (Church Education System).

The on Sat. Aug. 23, we got a telephone call from our youngest son, Peter, saying that he had proposed marriage to the girl that he has recently been dating (HURRAY!).

We are SO honored that they worked hard to set a wedding date which would allow us to attend the festivities now set for Sat. Dec. 6, 2014.  But remember, we are scheduled to enter the MTC for 10 days beginning on Mon. Dec. 1, 2014.  Fortunately senior missionaries are free to go wherever they like during the weekends; therefore we will be able to leave the MTC on Friday Dec. 5, fly to Sacramento, Calif., witness the wedding in the Sacramento Temple, and enjoy the other wedding festivities on Sat. Dec. 6, and then return to Utah on Sunday Dec. 7 to finish our MTC training the next week.

SEE?  The LORD knows BEST!

If our call dates had been set for some other earlier time, we would probably have missed Peter's wedding. Whew!  We are now VERY happy for the delay.

Now here is a bit of information about our mission area.  We hope that the pictures tell the full story.

  1. so do you know where you are going to be centered. Will you stay in Berlin or go elsewhere to set up something for the youth such as Dresden or Chemnitz?
