This background is in the Discovery Center in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building beside Temple Square.  If you ever visit Salt Lake City, don't miss going to this marvelous Discovery Center.  You'll never forget it.
Well, here we are . . . still sitting on the dock!
Although on Friday February 20, 2015 at the end of our day our Mission President held a meeting for all of the new missionaries during which he explained a little more about our future and announced the assignment for each new missionary, a week later we are still in training.  Our assignment among the twenty zones in our mission is to serve in the International Zone which works mainly in the Family History Library located across the street from Temple Square.  We suspect that our backgrounds in foreign languages is partially the reason for this assignment, however we spent all of last week still preparing for "departure".  As far as we can see at this point there will continue to be a lot of learning and preparing before we reach a high enough degree of proficiency in order to give any significant assistance to any of the guests ("guest" is the official title of anyone who comes to the Family History Library to continue the search for his or her ancestors).  The SUSPENSE continues; therefore, you'll just have to come back to our blog in a week or so to learn more specifics, OK?
Meanwhile we have indeed gained much more appreciation for our ancestors, and we have been reminded of what each of us does everyday can really have a great impact on the lives of those who follow.  This video demonstrates that point very clearly.

Now as we move forward trying to master the hundreds of details involved in the many online searching tools and to learn about  the GREAT amount of information in the thousands of books on the library shelves, we have discovered that things can get really complicated when it comes to family history.  This little video is a good example of such complications.  After you watch this clip, you may want to view it again - even perhaps several times before it gets a little clearer.  ENJOY!
