                     The BIG Envelope arrived.

Today, 13 August 2014, is our son Paul's birthday, and today THE envelope arrived in our mail box = two special events on ONE day!
Glen saw it first - approx. 2:15 p.m. Aug. 13, 2014.
Then it was Bonnie's turn to pose for a photo with the SPECIAL envelope.
We then hurried home to alert those family members who had expressed a desire to be present online via Google Hangouts to watch us open the envelope.  Since it is Paul's birthday, his family invited Peter to go to dinner with them; therefore, the best time to open THE envelope was set at 6:15 p.m. Utah time (5:15 p.m. California time).
Glen did the hard work of opening the envelope, and...
After Glen opened the envelope, Bonnie slid the contents out.
Bonnie pulled out THE letter from the Prophet, Pres. Thomas S. Monson, and then she took out the many instructions.
The letter had all of the exciting news.
Now after reading THE letter to all of our online family, it was time to telephone the rest of our immediate family.

WOW! The call is to work with the Young Single Adults in the very place where Glen served his original mission exactly 50 years ago - from 1964 to 1967 - in the Berlin Germany Mission!  The letter further stated that although details might change, at this time we are to report to the Mission Training Center in Provo, Utah on Dec. 1, 2014.
Here are our two official letters.
Now we have to study all of the accompanying materials and start getting everything in full readiness.  We'll update you on further details as soon as we have studied all the papers - e.g. the Mission President's name and background, what we're supposed to do to prepare, etc.  Tune in again SOON.

  2. Congratulations, you two! I'm so happy for you. What a great blessing to be able to return (Glen) to the area you fell in love with 50 years ago! What a fun assignment, too! I can't wait to follow along with your story as it unfolds.

  4. Congrats. My older brother served in that mission. You will enjoy working with the youth. Those in my area that have done this type of mission really have enjoyed it. Glad your health issues are now OK. Need to do lunch before you get too busy. Thanks for the update. Anneva

  5. YSA Missions are the best. The YSA love to party, and we love to party with them. Our daughter Kristen was one of the first young missionaries to serve in the Berlin YSA Outreach Center (as it was called then) when it first open in 2004.
